Iyo from Japan

Iyo (Citrus iyo)

This citrus is native to Japan and is one type of hybrid of the tangor (usually referred to as a mandarin or tangerine) and the orange.
It has a lot of juice and is very sweet. Essential oil can be obtained from its thick skin and features a fresh, uplifting aroma. The main area of cultivation is Ehime Prefecture, and the fruit is in season from January to February.
