Message from the President

Contribution to sustainable flavor & fragrance business and regional revitalization

Since its founding in 1893, Ogawa & Co., Ltd. has continued its business by contributing to the public through flavors and fragrances.

The company started out as an importer and seller of aroma ingredients, and gradually changed its business to the manufacture of synthetic aroma ingredients, while engaging in cultivation testing of aromatic plants in various places around the world at the same time. Since then, the company has evolved into a comprehensive flavor and fragrance manufacturer that develops, manufactures, and sells compounded flavors and fragrances that utilize plants, and contributed to the development of the food/cosmetic markets. Through its long history spanning 130 years, the environment that surrounds the company has changed dramatically. We have made various changes to adapt to the environment, but our commitment to scents has been consistent and unchanging.

We would like to express our gratitude to the municipalities, producers, and customers who have supported us in producing and selling products that utilize the attractive agricultural, forestry and fishery products of Japan.
We are very happy to have realized our long-cherished wish to enter the agriculture business, including our lemon farm in Saiki City, Oita Prefecture, which is one of the largest in Japan. When I actually visited the lemon farm in Saiki City, I was deeply moved by the magnificent scenery as well as the staff's smiling faces and the kind support from local residents. To respond to their expectations, we will strive to work on our projects with a long-term perspective.

Through our sustainable flavor and fragrance business boosted by our entry into the agriculture business, and as a comprehensive essential oils, extracts, flavors and fragrances manufacturer that plays a part in regional revitalization, we will transform agricultural, forestry and fishery products unique to Japan into scent, and offer them to people in and outside Japan.

Yutaka Ogawa, President & CEO
